There's a moon and someone wins a green bee
Well hello there old friends, new friends & art enthusiasts,
January gifted me a beautiful full moon on my birthday- prompting me to look up each morning over the next few days as I walked to my car. The cold, the bare trees, the white dot on a pale blue sky was a portal. That’s how I feel about most things I find inspiring: stories, vistas, botany; it all feels like getting a glimpse of a door left slightly open. You can ignore it, and go about your day, or you can explore it. Here’s some photo documentation I took to start exploring.
Looking at this now…it’s not very inspirational. But that dosent matter, I use photos to bookmark an idea, and remind myself of what I felt and saw.
This idea + time spent at my work table =
Final drawing transferred with carbon copy paper onto cut and mounted linoleum.
Stained linoleum with first reduction carved.
First test on newsprint.
If you’d like to see my inspo montage click here, for more carving process go here and for the very satisfying first print layer of this edition go here. Follow along on IG or tiktok or FB to see how this moon print takes shape!
Last but not least, now is the time for the Free Print Giveaway! I diplayed and sold my work at a handful of fall/winter markets in 2024 and I always have a Free Print Giveaway on my table: anyone that signs up for my newsletter at these events is entered into the name draw! The print above will go to 1 lucky winner!
And the winner is…🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁...Ellie Wilson! Yay congrats Ellie! I will be emailing you shortly to get your shipping information. As always my work is available for purchase anytime through my Etsy shop.
Last and least, if you need something irreverent to carry you through the end of the month I giveth unto you Kevin Killeen’s monologue about February. If you can live through February, you’ll live another year.
take care,
